What’s in your lunchbox?

July 31, 2010

What’s on the menu for the kiddo’s lunch box meals?  What do you pack this in these attractive little boxes of fun? My son went to all day pre-k last year and just thought that the lunchbox meals were way cooler than a hot lunch!  He actually told me “Mom that lunch lady can’t cook and you teach her?”

Here are a few things that go in my 5 year old’s lunchbox as well as some handy tips:

Hunt’s Snack Pack – Usually can pick up for a buck or less. Coupons are issued spiratically and are usually $1/4 or $0.75/3

Lunchables – Always a hit with any kid, just watch for a coupon to pair with a great sale!

Butterball Turkey Roll-ups – Watch for a post on making these quick fun low carb roll-ups!

Baby Carrots and Ranch – When dinning at fast food locations, rather than tossing the unused packs of dressing save them.  These are perfect for lunchboxes.  Most of the time they do not have to be refrigerated.

Granola bars of any sort – Find some with a speckle of chocolate and they kids won’t feel like they are eating healthy.  Stay tuned for a post on making your own granola bars!
