Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: An artist all my life, I’ve created mostly in oil paints as a portrait artist. I began the journey into designing eco-friendly girls dresses once I had children. I no longer had the time to paint, so I changed my focus to sewing. I began making dresses from my old shirts for my daughter. Each dress is one-of-a-kind, completely unique and so soft and easy to wear. I kept making dress after dress for my daughter and as she wore them, I began getting orders for dresses. I loved making them, and my daughter had more than she could wear, so I figured why not start a businesses doing what I love to do?

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: As an artist, I’m continuously feeling the need to make something through some sort of creative outlet. Each finished dress is like a little piece of art, and to see kids wearing something I’ve made is the greatest reward. My work makes me happy, and I’m grateful to be able to do something that I truly enjoy.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Since I hand-make every dress, I am limited in how many I can sew. I don’t plan to outsource the sewing, so I have to juggle the number of dresses I make. Plus, I am a mom to two young kids, so I am always balancing making dresses and being a mom.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: Often, one dress may contain fabric from up to five to six different shirts. Parents often give me shirts from their own closets for custom order dresses for their children. When a favorite shirt no longer fits, or is too worn for the parent to wear but has sentimental value, I can sew new life into it for their kids. My customers also tell me that the dresses that I make for their children are so popular that it gets worn day after day and even slept in. Once it is taken off to be washed, I have moms tell me they have to hide the dress just so their kids will wear something else.
