This Just In From The Metro Cooking Show #MCESHouston!

September 17, 2011

WOW! WOW! WOW! Is all I can say about The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertainment Show!  We had a ball!  After picking up our media badges (yes they classified us as media) we went up to a private class from Tara Wilson.  I was so excited to learn about the simplicity of party planning.  I loved the fact that she repurposes items she already has (or picks up for super cheap) and creates gorgous party decor with them.  If you’ve not check her out yet head over here and do it.

Then while we were having our time with her Heloise stopped in for a visit.   It was great to meet her as well.  Did you know tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the column “Hints with Heloise”.  We were able to take a group picture with these 2 fabulous ladies before heading to the next event.

(Left to Right: Back Row: Coupon Kristin, JenUnited, ME, Freebie4Mom, Frugally Thrifty, Michele Price Heloise, MileHiMama, Vine Sleuth  Front Row: Still Living the Dream and  Tara Wilson)

On to the Paula Deen show!  She is absolutely hilarious!  For a moment I forgot that we were at a cooking show!  She is one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet. (celebrity wise anyway)  Man if you missed buying a ticket by now you can forget it!  ALL of her shows for the event are sold out!  There were over 2,500 people at the show we were at today!

(I wish we had more pictures…technology and batteries, oh my!)

This was the first time Metro Cooking came to Houston and can I just tell you it will be back!  This was a huge success and it’s not even over!  Head out there tomorrow (or even tonight) and see it for your self!  There are vendors of all sorts, free smaples, cooking shows and product demonstrations.

Be sure to check out what all the bloggers are saying on FB and Twitter.  You can use the hash tag #MCESHouston to easily find our live tweets from today.  For more information on the show go here.

Special thank you to my wonderful assistant today!  THANKS LERA!

I saw Paula Deen at this cooking show and was very disappointed. She did not cook and her stories were terrible. Felt like I was watching a Las Vegas routine.

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! I’m so happy you had this experience.

There were so many yummy snacks it’s hard to choose! The tamales were really good and I brought some home. Did you taste the olives? I like olives normally but those were not for me!
