Thankful Thursday: Self Discipline
Each week I’d like to take a moment to reflect on something that I am am thankful for. I encourage you all to do the same. It seems that we get so caught up in the world that we forget some times what’s really important.
This week I’d like to say I’m thankful for self discipline. Weird huh? I’ve never really been that great at following directions or sticking to the rules but with time I’ve improved.
I decided over a week ago that to receive the results I’m looking for concerning a few areas in my life, I would start a fast. I am doing this fast for 21 days.
It’s not the typical fast everyone thinks of as starving yourself. I have given up the foods I love the most: carbs and sweets. This is a HUGE deal for me. I could eat pasta for breakfast! So anyway it’s meat, veggies, fruit and water for 21 days!
Not only is the elimination of favorite foods part of it but also I’m spending my lunch time on the treadmill RUNNING! I HATE RUNNING! Plus, I’m spending several hours a day reading The Word. Um P.S. I hate reading too! You can see where self discipline plays HUGE part in this whole deal.
I must say it has been exactly one week and I’ve read everyday (finishing 3 books), ran 20 minutes a day and not even had so much as a crumb of the “forbidden” foods I mentioned!!! Woohoo GO ME!!!
