My Mental Mayhem…

I wanted to take a moment and let you in my head.  I’m a pretty easy going, fly by the seat of my pants, simple girl.  I’ve recently found myself having perplexed at the things that normally would be a big deal.  Below are some totally random and somehow unrelated things that I’ve been mentally tossing around lately.  I’d love to hear any insights you may have.

I don’t understand…

…why people think b/c it’s cheap it’s trash.

…why people think if it’s expensive, it’s got to be better.

…why if I bought something one time for $0.50 and now it’s $0.99  I can’t make myself buy it.

…the only way to get ahead is to be mischievous.

…why if I take the time to post this I still in the back of my mind think no one will read it?  Yet I keep making the list.

…why some people make a huge deal out of something and then they don’t want to talk about it.

…why do the “terrible twos” have to be terrible?

…why aren’t ink pens ink washable?

…why do people take doctors so seriously?  It’s called “practicing medicine” not “perfect medicine”.

A few replies:

They have had a bad experience with buying inexpensive items since they didn’t take the time to do some homework

…why people think if it’s expensive, it’s got to be better.
they have heard time and time again “you get what you pay for”, and it’s more convenient to just buy, rather than shop around

…why if I bought something one time for $0.50 and now it’s $0.99 I can’t make myself buy it.
because you know the mark up is 100% and it will come down in price again

…the only way to get ahead is to be mischievous.
they see others get away with being that way, so they want the easy way out too

…why if I take the time to post this I still in the back of my mind think no one will read it? Yet I keep making the list.
people are afraid to reach out these days. Making the list clears your head.

…why some people make a huge deal out of something and then they don’t want to talk about it.
Women – PMS/Menopause
Men – female companion in PMS/Menopause

…why do the “terrible twos” have to be terrible?
because they were named terrible instead of terriffic

…why aren’t ink pens ink washable?
what a great money maker idea!

…why do people take doctors so seriously? It’s called “practicing medicine” not “perfect medicine”.
the hope of “practice makes perfect”

The first two perplex me, too. Also the concept that people who have very little money are bad people, or that it’s always a bad thing to be poor or to “live on the poor side of town.” It’s not bad to *be* poor (aside from the paying-bills-difficulties) – it’s just bad to not aspire and work toward not being poor. A lot of good people are poor, and a person learns a lot of good lessons when money gets tight. (Sorry – I could go on but I won’t. 🙂 )

#3: I do that too. I’m always convinced that if I wait just a little while longer it will be 50 cents again. 🙂

#4: No answer for that one.

#5: But we are reading it. 🙂

#6 & 7: {shrug} No help here either, sorry. 🙂

#8: Because people don’t want their ink to run in the rain if their letters or papers get wet. Ink is considered permanent. I have seen erasable ink pens, but not washable ink pens. Maybe you can pitch that idea to Crayola. 🙂

#9: Hehe – very good point, thanks for the reminder. 🙂
