How to Save on Produce & Meat with Coupons

May 31, 2011

I’m always approached with the dilemma of “How do I save money on produce and meat if I coupon?” While coupons for meat and produce are very rare there is another way around eating healthy for less.

Catalinas will become your best friend.  For those unfamiliar, Catalinas are the dollar off your next order coupons that you receive at checkout. They look like the above picture.  These coupons are exclusive tot he store you received them from and are valid on most anything. (excludes, tabaco, alcohol, gift cards etc.) You generally receive these coupons because you bought so many of a specific item or brand.  Most stores will have a label on the shelf informing you if that item has a CAT deal attached to it.

The $5 CAT was recevied because I purchased so many cases of Ozarka Bottled Water.  This was something on my list anyway and by puchasing 1 case more I not only got to use an additional $1/2 coupon but also received $2 more in CAT value. I have also received a coupon in a mailer from this store for $1 off a $6 meat purchase.  If I stack the (2) coupons with a meat sale I will score FREE meatOR I can use this CAT to purchase some organic produce from the manager special section.  These netted bags are usually filled with mix matched produce that is going to be best if used that week.  They are also priced $1 each so by using the CAT on these I will score (5) bags of produce for FREE!

The other $1 off CATs were just totally random.  I’m going to hang on to them in hopes the store will run there BOGO meat sale and I will score (2) packs of organic meat for even less!
