Why we love the FREE Bluebird Card
I have written about Bluebird from the beginning saying it was a great Checking & Debit Alternative without all of the fees of trying to keep a balance in a bank account. Walmart and American Express joined together to bring the powerful card to the market but normally charge $5 for a kit. This is an offer to get it free online.
You can still get the Free Bluebird offer online.
UPDATED GET $50 TOO!!!
Bluebird by American Express is offering a $50 account bonus credit after 2 direct deposits of $250 or more each are added to your Bluebird account by July 31, 2014.
In order to qualify for the $50 bonus, you must sign up for a new Bluebird account during the month of May, and then set up 2 direct deposits of $250 or more each to your Bluebird account by July 31, 2014.
You can make Direct Deposits, pay bills online, add checks with the Bluebird Mobile App, and set up Sub-Accounts. This is a great way to manage family spending and it has no overdraft fees or minimum balance required that some banks and prepaid cards may have. Bluebird also comes with the trust of American Express Bank which offers 24 hour customer service and you will not find that on many prepaid or debit cards or even banks!
Bluebird with direct deposit took the No. 1 spot in Consumer Reports’ first ever ranking of the country’s best prepaid cards. Also making the top five in a list of 26 cards were the H&R Block Emerald Prepaid MasterCard, the Green Dot Card and two versions of the Approved Prepaid MasterCard from CNBC credit guru Suze Orman. Our favorite card has been the Bluebird card since it launched but the $5 kit fee at Walmart we felt was unnecessary but now that it is free go for it!
The card works great to use for some free offers online where you need a credit card to validate a sign up or such. You may also load it up with Vanilla Reload cards up to $5,000 a month or $1,000 a day with no charges of course! If you want to load it up at Walmart locations you can for free with a debit card.
