Experimentation 101

So last night my husband worked incredibly late and actually ended up getting home ealy this morning. This happens from time to time. When this does happen my son and I get a little experimental in the kitchen. For those who don’t know, I went to culinary school. I’m pretty dang good if I do say so myself. Anyway, I like to makeup new dishes when he’s gone and try them out on son and myself. The dish we made last night was SO good I wish we had more leftovers to make it again! We had some leftover grilled chicken from a bday party last weekend. (yes it’s still good) I had pre-cooked some pasta ’cause you just never know when you might need it. Now what to do. Well I’m a huge fan of Mexican food so I grabbed the salsa and jalapenos.

First I melted some butter, sauted the chicken, added the jalapenos, pasta then the salsa. I topped it with 2 pieces of sliced cheese and stirred it all up. YUMMY is not even the word for this! It was so good is almost melted in your mouth! Didn’t take a picture of it b/c it was scarffed up faster than my brain processed “hey you ought to take a picture”.

This is my frugality tip. Experimentation may lead to a yummy creation! Get creative in the kitchen with your leftovers. Sure the family dog LOVES scraps but how much should he really eat? And what if you don’t have a dog? I can not promise the same yummy results but you are sure to have fun and learn a thing or too. If you ever have any cooking questions I’ll be happy to try and help.
