Couponing 101 Part 5: The Barcode Decoded
PLEASE READ: This part of Couponing 101 is for understanding of the coupon and how it works. This is NOT with the intention for you to “barcode match” to commit coupon fraud. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out J’amie who was recently featured on TLC’s Extreme Couponing.
The picture above explains this a bit better. I am showing you this for one simple fact. Confirming that the item you wish to purchase coordinates with the coupon you wish to use.
Some manufactures even go as far to put an additional code on the coupon to indicate when the coupon expires and for what size product it is intended for. While I can’t seem to locate one for a snapshot you can just glance over yours and spot one should you have one.
Some manufactures have the same bar code for a wide range of their products. Some have a unique code for each and every product. When bar codes for different items are the same you must then refer to the wordage on the coupon.
There are some people who will attempt to “bar code match” any product regardless of wordage. They assume since the bar codes match it will work. Sometimes it does. More times it doesn’t. You are ultimately responsible for the decisions you make. I share the information you do with it as you see fit.

I will also post sites I think you might enjoy and insists on my faith. I know that part is not "politically correct" and may offend some people but I honestly do not care. The Word is not and never will be "politically correct" until politics get back to the principals that they were originally based upon. Having said that I will get off my soapbox and back to the couponing. I starting couponing when we were in the Marine Corp a few years back and now it's become a part of me. If I don't have to have it or don't have a coupon, I try not to buy it. I say try b/c I'm a former shopaholic. LOL! Now I'm one with coupons! So needless to say Black Friday is my FAVORITE shopping day of the year!
